WOMEN PROTECTION

Violence against women (VAW) is widespread in South Sudan. Sexual violence has particularly increased precariously with the return to conflict in December 2013 and 2016 due to rampant impunity among the armed forces and loss of community protection mechanisms. As the conflict spread, torture, rape of young and old women including brutal killing became the norm. These, if not properly addressed; have multiple negative impacts on women and girls, which can manifest physically and mentally, which in turn affect the wellbeing of the family and the community. Eve Organization under this program raises awareness through FM radio programs and community outreach on the negative impact of VAW on communities. The organization involves community, traditional and religious leaders in addressing VAW and in particular working with states authorities to work against child marriages in South Sudan.
